Live-streams
BBF Live-Streamed Sessions
With the exception of a handful of sessions hosted by partner organizations, BBF live-streamed sessions will be available on Crowdcast. Crowdcast is a web-based platform and does not require any special software installations—just an internet browser. Note that Crowdcast strongly recommends the use of Google Chrome for best performance.
To register for any BBF live sessions, enter your email and an optional donation. You will receive an automated reminder about the session you’re registered for about ten minutes before it starts. Just return to that same URL and you’ll be all set to enjoy the session!
If you follow the BBF on Crowdcast, you’ll be notified about all live-streamed sessions before they start.
Some sessions may also be streamed to Facebook Live, but Crowdcast will be the best platform for access to live video content. Although closed captions are not available during initial live-stream on Facebook Live, they will be available to viewers during replays.
Crowdcast will also archive all BBF live sessions, which can be accessed by registering as described above. Links to transcripts of all live sessions will be added to the archived videos on Crowdcast within a day or two of original broadcast.
Audio Sessions
Audio Memoir Sessions
BBF 2020 audio memoir sessions will be hosted on Soundcloud. Links to transcripts are included with each session description on Soundcloud and on the BBF website. Visit Soundcloud’s Help pages if you need help troubleshooting the audio files on Soundcloud.
Pre-Recorded Video Sessions
Pre-Recorded Video Sessions
Several picture book readings with supplemental content will be available on Vimeo. English closed-captioning is available for all these sessions.
Television Broadcasts
Television Broadcast of BBF Sessions
We are pleased that many BBF 2020 video sessions will be aired on television via Boston Neighborhood Network Media. Some BBF sessions will air live and others will be broadcast after their original live-streamed date. Check the BNN television schedule here for details.
In addition, a number of BBF 2020 nonfiction sessions will re-air on C-SPAN Book TV later this fall.
Access
Access to BBF 2020 Content
We are pleased that audiences from across the country and around the world will be able to engage with BBF 2020 content in a way that would be challenging or impossible at an in-person festival.
Through a variety of platforms (audio, pre-recorded, broadcast TV), we hope that as many people as possible are able to access the variety of sessions we offer. Please see information above for how to access transcripts or closed-captioning for BBF video and audio sessions. If you have questions or concerns about accessing BBF sessions, please contact Director of Operations Carlin Carr (carlin@bostonbookfest.org). Thank you!
